Antique Samurai horse saddle Japan lacquered wood craft Kura 1800
Antique Japanese Samurai saddle Kura, made of interlocking wood parts, straw and leather. Wood parts once decorated with fine Maki-e lacquer decoration still partly visible in some areas, old copper plaques restorations. Poor conditions, extensive wear due to time and long usage. Found preserved inside old Kura storage of rural house. In original conditions as found. Historical horse riding tool.
Period: 1700 - 1800 mid Edo era
Dimensions: W 36 cm, weight 6 Kg + wrapping.
